1. INTRODUCTION                                                        

Scout Underground ("we", "our", or the "App") helps users discover live music. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the App.

2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

2.1 Account Information

  We collect your email, username, display name, and password when you create an account. You may also provide an optional profile photo and bio.

2.2 Location Information

  With your permission, we access your precise location to show nearby events on the map. This location data is used in real-time and is not stored on our servers. You may also choose up to five notification cities, which are stored to send you alerts about new shows in those areas. You may disable location access at any time in your device settings, though certain features may not function without it. Location data is never shared with advertisers.

2.3 Concert Attendance & Activity

  When you mark events as attended, we track your concert history including the date, artist, and venue. This data is used to calculate your profile statistics (concerts attended, unique artists seen, unique venues visited) and to award achievement badges.

2.4 Follow Lists

  When you follow artists or venues, we store those preferences to send you push notifications about new shows and to display your followed artists and venues in the App.

2.5 Push Notifications

  If you enable push notifications, we store a device token to deliver alerts about new shows, badge achievements, and updates from artists and venues you follow.

2.6 User Uploaded Photos

  If you upload a profile photo, we store that image using Firebase Storage so it can be displayed in the App. Uploaded photos are only used for App features and are not shared outside the platform. You may update or delete your photo at any time.

3. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

3.1 We use your information to:

  - Provide core App features (event discovery, concert tracking, badges)

  - Show relevant nearby events based on your location

  - Send push notifications about new shows and achievements

  - Share your earned badges with the corresponding artist

  - Maintain platform safety and prevent misuse

3.2 We may also use anonymized, aggregate data about concert attendance, badge activity, and artist preferences to improve App features and power music recommendations. For example, we may analyze patterns across users to suggest artists you may enjoy based on the concert habits of fans with similar tastes. This analysis is performed on data that cannot be used to identify you individually. We do not sell individual user profiles or your personal concert and badge history to third parties.

4. VISIBILITY TO ARTISTS

Your email address is never shared publicly. If you earn a badge from an artist, your username and primary city may be visible to that artist.

5. DATA STORAGE & SECURITY

Your data is stored securely using Firebase (operated by Google). We use reasonable safeguards, but no system can guarantee absolute security.

6. HOW WE SHARE INFORMATION

6.1 We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for advertising or cross-app tracking.

6.2 We only share data with:

  - Firebase (Google) for authentication, database storage, image hosting, and push notifications

  - Google Maps and Google Places for map display and venue information

  No data is shared with third-party analytics platforms, ad networks, or data brokers

7. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

Scout Underground is intended for users 13 or older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

8. YOUR CHOICES & CONTROLS

You may:

  - Update or delete your account and all associated data

  - Change your username, display name, and profile photo

  - Disable location services in your device settings

  - Disable push notifications in your device settings

  - Unfollow artists and venues at any time

  - Request deletion of your data by contacting us

9. DATA RETENTION

9.1 We retain your information while your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove all personal information (email, username, display name, profile photo, bio, and city preferences) and delete your login credentials.

9.2 Anonymized activity data (such as concert attendance counts and badge achievements) may be retained.

10. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

By continuing to use the App after changes are posted, you accept the updated Privacy Policy. We will update the "Last Updated" date below when changes are made.
